JCPP Centre Assistant

Job Overview

Initial work trial with the aim to move on to a 12 month paid JCPP for the right candidate.

The position would be paid under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award [MA000100]

at a part time rate of around $30 per hour (depending on qualifications)

We are looking for someone to start at 18 hours per week (3 x 6 hour days, 9 am to 3.30pm) with the possibility of increasing those hours.

Weekdays only 

 

Workplace Health & Safety
• Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and report any WH&S issues or concerns to your
Supervisor in a timely manner
• Take reasonable care that your acts or omissions do not adversely affect the health and safety of other persons
• Comply, so far as is reasonably able, with any reasonable instruction that is given by the person conducting the business
to allow the person to comply with this Act, policies and procedures
• Provide necessary induction, training, guidance to Volunteers and Contractors and room/hall hirers
• Assist with WHS, risk assessments, PPE, chemical registers, ensuring PPE, First Aid Certificates, AED and First
Aid Kits are current are maintained
• Ensure you and volunteers have read and understand the policy and procedures, chemical and SWMS manuals
• Complete necessary risk assessments
• Comply with NSW Heath regulations

General Office Administration and Centre Activities
• Apply, seek and acquit grants and donations for programs and events
• Maintain a pleasant and secure working environment
• Assist with daily activities and operations of the office staff and volunteers and contractors, WFD and students
• Assist with general office duties, answering phones, greeting clients and partners, dealing with enquiries and
complaints
• Assist with BBQs and events
• Assist with marketing material including newsletters, posters, flyers, social media (Facebook), website, Google Drive, mail
Chimp, G Suite, emails and external advertising and office computer back ups
• Attend performance reviews
• Report to Office Supervisor
• Assist with maintenance and administration processes of the computers and office equipment
• Ensure all cleaning and general maintenance tasks are completed
• Utilise electronic calendar to manage work time effectively
• Notify Office Supervisor of any of stock or equipment that may be required to purchase
• Allocate time for continuous improvement both personally and work areas of responsibility
• Identify, train and develop volunteers with specific skills or talents to satisfy general centre requirements
• Locating and maintaining garbage and recycling bins around the Centre
• Assistance with the care, cleanliness and presentation of the Centres grounds, buildings, vehicles and gardens
• Assistance with set ups for programs and other functions
• Participation in Food Programs
• Test and tagging donations and equipment
• Sort donations
• Participate in multi-disciplinary responses to Fire Alarm, Security or other incident responses.
• Conduct any other duties as directed by the Sugarvalley Neighbourhood Centre staff.

Community Development and Early Intervention • Greet and assist clients and families, provide appropriate support, provide information and referral
• Adhere to Mandatory reporting procedure that includes, ROSH reports, that Working with Children’s Checks
• Assist with programs and partnerships such as Playgroups.
• Assist with seeking donations from partnerships such as preschools, churches, rotary, Bunnings etc
• Build and maintain relationships and Networking with Schools, Government Departments, LMCC, Local
Neighbourhood Centres, refuges, mental health and drug and alcohol rehabs, housing, financial counselling,
NDIS, Aboriginal Orgs and other relevant organisations
• Assist with consultations and research community partners, statistics, needs, gaps and development
• Assist with local events such as ANZAC Day, NAIDOC Week etc
• Establish and maintain positive professional relationships with centre patrons, community members, young
people, venue users, and key stakeholders.

Additional Information 

Employment will be subject to the clearance of Working with Children, Criminal History and referee checks.
• There will be a probationary period of six months.
• Ensure compliance with the Policies and Procedures of the Sugarvalley Neighbourhood Centre
• Out of hours work may be required
• This role will be paid under the SCHADS Award
• Sugarvalley Neighbourhood Centre is committed to protect its clients, staff, volunteers, and the public from
infection or contagion by epidemics and/or pandemics, therefore we require all Staff and Volunteers have had a
minimum of 2 COVID Vaccinations.

Criteria – Skills/Experience • Experience with Microsoft, G Suite and general IT
• Experience in conflict resolution
• Ability to multitask and prioritise tasks
• Self-starter who requires minimal supervision
• Demonstrated communication skills both oral/written
• Demonstrate a “Can do” and positive non-judgemental approach
• Initiative and attention to detail
• Experience in working with diverse demographic groups
• Flexible to a changing environment
• Valid current Drivers Licence
